Enticing China

China had always been an enticing yet daunting prospect for travel writer Brad Crouch

China had always been an enticing yet daunting prospect for travel writer Brad Crouch. The language barrier, how to get around, food, accommodation – you could spend half your holiday there just trying to get organised. Travelling with Helen Wong’s Tours took care of these worries. Seeing the bustling city of Shanghai and the extraordinary city of Beijing with its Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Great Wall and so many other sights became close to simple, with transport, excellent accommodation, delicious (and safe!) meals, not to mention time for shopping and solo roaming all factored in.

A highlight for me was the cruise down the Yangtze River, through the Three Gorges while seeing the lesser gorges and other sights of the powerful river. The insight into this ancient landscape and the impact of the Three Gorges Dams on communities along the way was pure fascination. The river boat was luxurious, with ubiquitous staff so friendly you could get a little weary of replying a polite ‘Good morning’ or “Good evening’ to each passing, ever-smiling staffer. Helen Wong’s Tours made China accessible, comfortable and fun.
