Morning visit to Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, his wooden cottage and One Pillar Pagoda. Continue onto the Temple of Literature and Hoa Lo Prison, the History Museum and stop at the Buddhist Tran Quoc Pagoda. After an early dinner, join the overnight train to Lao Cai on the Vietnam/China border.

Early morning transfer to the hotel in Sapa and stay two nights. Once an old French hill station, this lovely valley region is home to the Dao, Giay and Hmong minorities who are distinguished by their colourful dress. Stroll around the local markets and visit some local homes.
Travel by road to Tavan village, home to the Giay ethnic minority hill tribe. Take a walk through the bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao ethnic minority village. Stop at a nearby waterfall before returning to Sapa.
Morning visit to Su Pan and walk to Ban Ho village, home to the Tay minority people. Enjoy lunch in a local house before your walk continues through the rice fields to the Red Dao village of Nam Toong. Stroll back to Su Pan and return to Sapa. Evening transfer to board the overnight train to Hanoi.

Depart for Duong Lam agricultural village in the Northern Red River Delta. Visit Mong Phu Temple in Mong Phu commune and stroll through the narrow alleyways and see the old houses of this charming village. Continue to Ngo Quyen Temple, Phung Hung Temple and Tay Phuong Pagoda. This evening, watch the Water Puppet show.
